My name is Tara and I am primary school teacher. I live locally and went to school in the Horsforth area. I have three young children and have always had a passion for Art from a very young age. I attended Leeds college of Art where I experienced new styles, opinions and forms of Art that broadened my own knowledge. As an adult I have continued to paint, especially in times when I may have felt like I needed some calm and focus. It helps me to relax and think clearly.
My father is from Shiraz, Iran (Persia) and my mother from Birstall, England so I have grown up with the two cultures mixing, in food, language, literature and music. This inspires my Art and drips into the colours, patterns and imagery I paint. I use mainly oil paints on canvas and my subjects vary from nature, animals, facial features (eyes in particular as they are the windows into the soul) but all have an underlying theme from the Persian culture of myself and my fathers roots.
Activity
A cultural show and tell. Stepping into the history and world of Persia, with artefacts, writings and poetry displayed on a table. Stories and historical tales will be told to visitors by myself, and my father who travelled here from Persia 30+ years ago and artefacts explained.
