What is the Walk of Art?
The Walk of Art – is a free, community-led, family friendly, diverse and inclusive, creative festival that engages the entire community. We aim to showcase creativity in everyday and unusual spaces. We promote and showcase local and almost local artists, engage and inspire the community and make creativity, in all its forms, accessible and engaging. The event is shaped by the participants.
When does it happen?
The Horsforth walk of art festival takes place on the 1st weekend in July from 11am to 4pm both days.
What is the theme?
Each year we provide a theme so artists, residents, businesses and venues can immerse themselves in the spirit of the festival. This is completely optional but has proved very popular in the past.
This year’s theme is ‘Things that go’!
How are you promoting the Horsforth Town Council ‘Green agenda’
The Walk of Art is committed to environmental sustainability and support all participants in creating greener events.
We are actively encouraging visitors to pick up litter on their walk around our lovely town and dispose of at their nearest bin.
We encourage visitors to bring their own reusable drinks cup and will be providing information about cafes across Horsforth that offer a discount when bringing your own cup.
We are also in partnership with Horsforth Fairtrade where we truly believe that a product should not only be sustainable but also ethical.
We print all posters and flyers on recycled paper.
Wherever possible, we ask the community for art supplies that otherwise would have been thrown away.
On the day
Do I need to book or buy tickets for the Walk of Art?
No, this is a totally free to participate event
Where can I find information on the day?
Via our comprehensive google map – this will be made avbailable on the Home page nearer the date of the festival.
Visit our website ‘Walk of Art – ‘visitor information’ page – here you will find all the information you will need to plan your day.
Where can we eat and drink during the festival?
Horsforth has 3 main shopping streets which have some lovely eateries. Town Street, New road side and Station road. But do not limit yourself to just these areas, there are other businesses tucked away down little roads so make sure you do a bit of research before you join us.
But I’m thirsty now!
Well in that case, please use our google map to direct you to a local shop. We will also be providing you with a list of businesses that are offering discounts to people who bring in their own cups for hot beverages.
Who can I ask for general assistance?
Anyone! This is a community festival so chances are, the person you speak to on the street is local and can help you.
Can I take photos?
Oh yes please, take as many as you want. If you want to put them on social media then please use #HorsforthWalkof_art or #HWOA
Where will I be able to find toilets/baby change facilities?
If you stop off for lunch anywhere then chances are the business will have facilities. There is also Morrisons but sadly no council public amenities.
Will the event still go ahead in bad weather?
In the event of severe weather some outdoor events may have to be postponed or cancelled – please look out for updates via our social media pages/website and app.
This is a walk, so we advise visitors to wear appropriate clothing and footwear and prepare for all weathers.
