VENUE #17 – VIEW ON MAP >

Although I just turned 30 and have been creating art basically all of my life, I’m still not 100% on my “style”.
I don’t think I have a particular style/media of work that makes me think “this is who I am as an artist”.

I’ve felt for a while that whenever I have created art, I was just doing it for fun but it wasn’t really me coming through because I hadn’t found my media. I was just dabbling and creating but this wasn’t my portfolio of art, it was just art.

I wasn’t suddenly a watercolour artist or I didn’t exclusively do portraits or I hadn’t found my signature expression with acrylics. And while this is still the case, I think I am realising that my style is maybe that I don’t have a style.

I love to explore different ways to create art and am heavily influenced by other artists and what I am seeing at that particular moment in time.

Some styles I will repeatedly return to like acrylics, abstract art, charcoal life drawings, some I will take on more recently like watercolours and try and expand my skills and find a way to express with them and then some I try and realise maybe they just aren’t for me.

But all of these expressions end up as a study and creation of art. So maybe actually I have been building a “portfolio” of work and my style has been emerging through exploring and inspiration by so many different artist and styles.
