My interest in the production and use of natural dyes began about 5 years ago when I was part of a workshop on the process, being tasked with preparing a dye bath from avocado stones. Lockdown, with its daily walks to forage for plants, fine spring weather to dry the dyed fabrics and all the time in the world, provided the perfect opportunity to explore the process further. I love the soft gentle colours which result on a variety of natural fibres and the way they all work together as they do in nature – nothing clashes! The inconsistency of dye baths never fails to delight me.
