VENUE #39 – VIEW ON MAP >>
After completing a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2012, I have been creating artwork in my own time outside of work. This has included a variety of mediums, such as photography, painting, drawing and crafts. More recently, I have been concentrating on intuitive abstract painting, and exploring the mindful effects of the process. Creating the artwork is an emotional and therapeutic process, using watercolours, fine liners, mono printing and textured paint.
I have worked for Leeds Mind for 5 and a half years. For three of those years, I have led the creative wellbeing service, Inkwell Arts, delivering a variety of art and craft workshops across Leeds. Naturally, working in mental health, and my own lived experience, have fed into the subject matter of my work.
Activity
Workshop
Join me in a mindful art workshop, focusing on wellbeing and mental health. This will involve methods of using watercolour paints, fine liners and posca pens to create intuitive, expressive and emotive artwork. This is suitable for all ages and all abilities – it’s less focused around the finished piece, but the ‘doing’ and ‘getting involved’ in creating the work. The aim of the workshop is to encourage individuals to use creativity to help improve their overall wellbeing.
